Beach

On Saturday, we met up with our friends Matt and Tracy at Windy Creek Park, where they had been camping for about a week.  We hung out at the beach and goofed around with the kids, then later we roasted marshmallows and had s'mores at their campsite.  On our way home that night, we almost hit a deer, answering my question, "Do they have deer in Alabama?" They must be surprisingly good at cleaning up their roadkill because I haven't seen many animal victims alongside the road.  Maybe they have an abundance of money from not having to constantly repair roads from weather damage and use it to clean them up instead.

We were definitely the whitest people on that beach.

A somewhat normal picture of Todd, with Tracy and Matt in the background.

Very orange.  The weird thing was, there was a storm going on in the distance while it was completely sunny where we were at.  We kept hearing thunder while we were in the sun.  Weird.

Orange-ish beach again.

My big feet covered with orange rock sand that kind of hurt to walk on.

Jacob was excited to play in the clay mud.

Muddy Jacob-feet.

The Silo, that Jacob kept calling "The Casino."  I don't quite understand the silo concept; a lighthouse would have made more sense to me.

Ready to ascend.

All geared up to swim, even at higher elevations.

View from silo.

View from silo again.  We ended up swimming to the little island afterward.  Jacob and Eva kept calling it "Yo-Ho Island" and Jake buried lots of little treasures while talking in his best pirate voice.  Kids are fun.

It's just weird to me that dirt isn't brown here.

Todd and Matt, on their way to Yo-Ho Island.
